Kaitlyn Soccer

We have decided to have Kaitlyn try different sports and activities to let her pick what she wants to do.  She is currently in swimming lessons and loves it.  She has really become the little swimmer.  The other week during her lesson she started swimming and started to struggle.  She instinctly flipped over to her back.  I am so happy that they taught her to flip to her back since that is easier.  Okay, I know this post is suppose to be about soccer, but I had to just add a little blurb about swimming.  She just started Little's 4 and they are learning front and back crawl.

We started Kaitlyn in a 5 week soccer program to give it a try.  Let's just say that this may not be her favorite activity.  She seems to more of a defensive player or possibly a cheerleader.  She did participate each week, but she did ask if she was done on a regular basis.  Maybe next summer she will be more interested.

First Boat Trip of the Season

We finally took out our boat for the first time this year.  We went out both Saturday and Sunday, since we knew that we probably wouldn't be using it again until July.  Last year we went out a few times with Gavin, but not enough for him to really recall the experience.

The weather was perfect, but let's just say that Gavin spent most of the time on my lap.  He isn't a big fan of the life jacket just yet.  Don't let the pictures fool you.  Our plan is to have him wear the life jacket at home a little more often so he can get used to it.

Kaitlyn even got to drive the boat for a little bit.  She did pretty good, but loved to keep moving the steering wheel.  She made some nice S shapes behind us.

Our normal routine of launching our boat is that Nate and the kids get in the boat and I do the truck and trailer.  It was a little more challenging since Gavin isn't a big fan of the life jacket.  This makes it a little harder for Nate while they wait for me to get back to the launch.  I am pretty sure it will get easier the more we go out.

4 year old Preschool Field Trip

Kaitlyn's 4 year old Preschool class took a trip to the Children's Museum. We got to ride in a real school bus.  Kaitlyn even let me sit with her.  In previous conversations she told me that I could come, but that I had to ride in the front of the bus with Mrs. Hoese while she sat in the back with her friends.

A few days before the big field trip... Kaitlyn decided she better pack her lunch.  When I got home from work she couldn't wait to show me.  She packed 10 fruit snacks and a juice box.  She told me... "Mom, we better put this by the stairs so we don't forget it."

The night before the big field trip Kaitlyn kept coming out of her room after we put her to bed.  Finally she looks at me and says "Mom, I am just so excited for tomorrow I can't sleep."

We had a great time doing all the activities.

They had a station that would let the kids draw on their face.  Kaitlyn was so proud of her beautiful work.

I think this was Kaitlyn's favorite part of the Children's Museum.  Using the crutches.  She kept following other little girls around waiting for them to be done with the crutches so she could use them.

Gavin's First Goose egg!

Gavin got his first of probably many goose eggs.  He feel into the leg of one of our dinner room chairs.  Poor guy!  When it happened I didn't see anything on head, but after he kept crying for longer than normal the goose egg appeared.

It only lasted about a week, so that was good news.

Gavin 14 Months

A lot can happen in a month.  Gavin now has almost 4 teeth.  He has his 2 front bottom teeth all the way in.  He has one top tooth with 3 more close behind.  This has made for an interesting month.  He gets pretty crabby on the days the tooth finally pushes
through.

He has also started to walk or at least have an interest in walking.  A few weeks ago at our friends house he took his first 2 steps.  He only did this on slim occassions, but still preferred crawling his main form of transportation.  The last few days he has really shown an interest in walking.  He will stand up in the middle of a room and walk the rest of the way to his desired location.

He loves to play with matchbox cars and making vroom noises.  He also drives them already the house.  He also loves sitting on his nascar toy while his sister pushes him around the house.

Happy Easter

We spent Easter weekend in Mora with Nate's family.  We went over to some family friends house on Saturday and had an Easter Egg hunt.  The weather wasn't the greatest, but we managed to find most of the eggs.

Sunday we woke up and Kaitlyn ran upstairs to look to see what the Easter bunny left. She was very disappointed when she looked out the living room window to see that the Easter bunny left no eggs outside. After a little explanation she found hers and Gavin's baskets in the house.

Gavin 13 Months

We still can't believe that our little boy is one.  He got his first tooth after his first birthday.  It seemed to take a long time for it to finally make it's appearance.  Not too long after that the second bottom tooth appeared.  I tried to take a picture, but he isn't a big fan of my fingers near his mouth.

He finally crawls on his hands and knees almost all the time.  He still loves to stand up from a sitting position in the middle of the floor.  He can stand for almost a minute before losing his balance.  He has taken 2 steps, but still prefers to crawl.   Soon he will be running after his sister.

He loves to drive his car when we go on walks around the neighborhood.

Gavin chillin at our friends house.

Gavin went to visit his new cousin Brady, but decided that he should sit in Brady's bouncer instead.

He loves to eat finger foods.  He seems to eat whatever we give him.  (Unlike his picky sister.)  If he doesn't want something he will shake his head no and wave his hands in front of his face.

On occasion he says: Mama, Dada, and Hi.  He has also figured out he can scream or make high pitched noises.  He seems to do this when he has finished his food and wants more.

Little 2 Graduate

We have enrolled Kaitlyn in Foss Swim school since this past August.  She has learned so much in the 7 months since we started.  It seems so long ago that she wouldn't even want water splashed on her face.  Now she would rather have her face under the water during the lesson.

She loves to jump into the pool and swim back to the ledge and pull herself out of the water.  She is now learning to swim on her back and flip over to her tummy.  We just completed Little's 2 and are onto Little's 3.  We have been fortunate to have the same instructor for all 3 sessions.  Deborah is an amazing instructor and has really helped Kaitlyn succeed.
Waiting for their Little 2 awards.

Onto Littles 3!!!

Kaitlyn Quotes

Here are some fun quotes and conversations we have had with Kaitlyn.

We signed Kaitlyn up for Gymnastics with her friend Brayden.  So far they love it.  As we are getting ready to go Kaitlyn keeps insisting she needs to bring her backpack.  I told her no and she says: "But mom, I need it if I win a gold medal."

A few weeks ago my sister and mom took Kaitlyn and Gavin and my sister's nanny boys to the Science Musuem.  On the car ride down Kaitlyn wouldn't stop talking.  So, my mom asked her why she talks so much.  Her response was: "Because God gave us voices and people to talk to."  I guess we can't argue with that.

Last night on our way home from swimming lessons I started asking Kaitlyn questions about school. She says: "Mom, stop talking I am tired."

I asked Kaitlyn the other day what she did at school today.  Her response was: "Mom, I don't need to tell you, because you have been to high school and should know what I did today in school."  - Is this what we have to look forward too?  She is only in Preschool.
Nate hurt his shoulder a few weeks ago and it needed surgery.  While daddy was resting Kaitlyn went outside to her playset and started collecting ice.  She came in asking for a knife since the ice was stuck to the playground.  After some persuading she settled for an ice cream scooper.  Here is Kaitlyn so proud of her ice collection.
